Pitch raising
A pitch raise brings a piano closer to its intended pitch when many notes have drifted substantially low. It is usually a preliminary correction, followed by fine tuning as needed.
Why it may be needed
A large overall pitch change affects string tension across the instrument. A preliminary correction helps establish a better foundation for the more precise tuning work. Time since the last visit is useful context, but does not by itself determine whether a pitch raise is needed.
Assessment comes first
The piano’s measured pitch, stability and condition guide the recommendation. The technician will explain what the piano appears to need and discuss the next step before proceeding.
What to tell us
Let us know when it was last tuned if you know, whether it has been moved, and how the sound has changed. If the piano needs to play with other instruments, include that too.
Service areas
Melbourne is Joel’s primary service area and Brisbane is Jonathan Kok’s. Sydney and Perth are by appointment only. Share your suburb so the right service arrangements can be discussed.
Ask about your piano
Tell us about your piano and ask whether pitch raising is the right next step. We’ll discuss the instrument and what you have noticed before work begins.
