Piano service

Piano tuning

Piano tuning adjusts the tension of the strings so the notes sit in a stable musical relationship. The right approach depends on the piano’s current pitch, condition and how it is used.

What the tuner assesses

The piano is checked for its general condition and current pitch before tuning begins. The work then adjusts the strings across the keyboard. If you have noticed a sticking key, pedal issue, unusual noise or uneven touch, mention it so it can be considered separately.

What can affect the work

Time since the last tuning, changes in room conditions, how often the piano is played and the piano’s condition can all affect how well it holds pitch. A piano well below its intended pitch may need a pitch raise before fine tuning.

Before the visit

Share the piano type, brand if known, when it was last tuned and your suburb. A photo of the piano can help identify it. The technician can discuss the service and next step before work begins.

Service areas

Melbourne is Joel’s primary service area and Brisbane is Jonathan Kok’s. Sydney and Perth are by appointment only. Share your suburb so the right service arrangements can be discussed.
